The Bjarkøy Viking Village
As a part of the total production plan the producers of The ADOGIT TV series want to build a Viking Village on the island of Bjarkøy. This village will be used as the place where the Bjarkøy Dynasty/family lived, and all outdoor scenes that take place there will be filmed here.
The plan is to design and to build a solid replica of Viking-age villages. Based on the knowledge that we have access to through archaeologists and historians and other scientist, we can imagine how a place like this could have been like. After the production period of the series, this village can be used as a site where the public can visit, and events related to Viking history in the area can take place.
The producers have been in a dialog with the designers and builders of a smaller Viking Village in Iceland. This Viking Village was created in 2010 as a future movie set for an Icelandic Viking movie «Vikingr» but production was postponed for a few years and the village became a tourist attraction instead.
Now production of a much larger scale will put the village to good use. In the near future, the cameras will be moved to the Viking Village near Vestrahorn Mountain. The Viking Village is designed by the Icelandic/Norwegian Production designer Karl Juliusson.
